Evaluation of Cleanroom and HVAC Systems – National Ignition Facility, Livermore, CA

This project involved the evaluation of the HVAC systems serving the high bay cleanrooms and special laser target environment. This is the largest laser facility in the world and is to be used for weapons development and other fundamental research. Recommendations for retrofit of the HVAC systems were provided based upon in-situ performance testing and quantitative analysis/review of the design. Prioritized recommendations for cost effective retrofit strategies to ensure compliance with critical environmental control criteria were provided recognizing the need to minimize impact on budget, operations and R&D mission of this DOE facility.
